I’M NOT SURE
Different redness patterns can look similar even when the underlying cause and most appropriate treatment are different.

Recommended starting point: • Identify and manage individual triggers • Barrier-supporting skin care • Professional assessment if flushing is frequent or worsening
Other approaches that may be considered: • Selected vascular laser or light treatment • Medical management when an inflammatory condition is suspected
Treatment results for flushing can be less predictable than treatment of fixed, visible vessels. Identifying triggers and any underlying inflammatory condition may be an important first step.
Recommended starting point: • Vascular laser • IPL
Other approaches that may be considered: • Barrier-supporting skin care • Management of underlying inflammation • Combination treatment
Diffuse persistent redness may respond to vascular laser or light-based treatment, but active inflammation and skin sensitivity may need to be stabilised first.
Recommended starting point: • Vascular laser
Other approaches that may be considered: • IPL • Combination treatment for mixed diffuse redness and individual vessels
The preferred technology depends on the vessel’s size, colour, depth and location. A targeted vascular laser may be more appropriate for distinct vessels, while IPL may be considered when redness is more widespread.
Recommended starting point: • Control any ongoing acne or inflammation • Allow time for natural fading where appropriate
Other approaches that may be considered: • Vascular laser • IPL • Selected gentle skin-renewal treatments
Red post-inflammatory marks are different from brown post-inflammatory pigmentation. Treatments aimed at vascular redness may be considered once the underlying inflammation is controlled.
REDNESS WITH BUMPS, BURNING OR SENSITIVITY
Recommended starting point: • Professional skin or medical assessment • Stabilise inflammation and support the skin barrier
Other approaches that may be considered: • Medical management • Vascular laser or IPL once the skin is sufficiently stable • Combination treatment
When redness occurs with bumps, burning, stinging or marked sensitivity, treating the visible redness alone may not address the underlying concern.
Vascular lasers and IPL may both be used for facial redness, but they do not necessarily target every vessel or redness pattern equally. Vessel depth, size, distribution and the presence of inflammation can influence which approach is more appropriate.
